Major league baseball player Bobby Saverine (a relation of Ralph’s) meets with (L to R) Joe Sestito, John Valente, Joe Vitti, Joe Calve, and Peter Rogers. Photo submitted by John Valente, found among thousands of photos in his mother’s house. The event was the Darien Youth Atheletic League Annual Banquet, around 1963 or 1964. The DHS Camera Club. Only Jim Gammill is holding a camera! Photo submitted by Joe Vitti.
Sadly, John Vasone passed just a few weeks before the 50th+1 Reunion. Here he is with Little League-through-DHS teammate, Doug Lawrence.
The Twelfth Moon, circa 1968. Peter Rogers (bass guitar), Bill Wright (vocals & tambourine), Don Harris (lead guitar), Marty Womer (drums). Cropped out of photo is keyboardist Teddy Eng.
PETER ROGERS REMEMBERS… “Our most memorable moment was WOWing the audience at the 9th Grade Middlesex Battle of the Bands (five bands) when In mid-song, Peter and Don left the stage to venture into the auditorium aisles while continuing to play by virtue of 50-foot cords still connected to stage amplifiers. While leaping from the 4-inch high stage, both lost their beat but continued playing out of step and out of tune. The crowd was so taken with this performance, they voted the Twelfth Moon dead last! That distinction is ours and nobody can take it away!”
The band reunites (bur fortunately does not perform) at the 50th+1.
