It was so nice to connect with people our age
and see us active, thriving, and spirited.

Saturday morning at 10:30, a group of 17 classmates and significant others met certified yoga instructor Sue Reichart Allen for a gentle class in the most picturesque of settings at Weed Beach. Yogis came from all over the country, from Colorado to Iowa to Wisconsin to Massachusetts to Connecticut. As we practiced our peaceful session, the sounds of joy and laughter were heard as youngsters ran around the enclave. The class ended with savasana (resting pose) and a sweet message from Sue. After the class, we all headed off to lunches around town and to relax before Saturday night’s dinner dance at the Country Club of Darien.

Sunday’s cool, bluebird morning was perfect for the 24 enthusiastic bicyclists who met at Pear Tree Point Beach for a tour of Darien on bicycles brought from home, borrowed, or rented. Bruce Manchon organized the activity and Bill Wright followed in the appropriately-decorated “sag wagon.” The 90-minute ride (route shown on map below) included Long Neck Point’s finest coastal real estate, Darien High School’s unrecognizeable-to-us campus, and many beautiful neighborhood roads.
We lost David Hendrickson and Bruce Koehler right out of the gate with a broken bike chain and a dead battery, but the stalwarts enjoyed many smiles and waves from walkers, as well as honking horns (happy honks), thumbs up, and shouted congratulations from passing cars. One of many fun comments was from a woman driving by, who yelled out with a huge smile, “I am not even 50 years old and look at you all riding around town!”

. . . And here are a few more “random” photos that don’t fit into any of the reunion’s scheduled activities, but help capture the wonderful time we had getting together with old friends back in our town on the Sound.
